I have already talked to 3rd - 5th grade students about being safe on the internet. This week students in 1st - 4th grade are going to watch a Professor Garfield video about internet safety, and students in 3rd - 5th will be exploring the pbskids.org webonaut site to learn even more. If you would like to look at these sites you can use the links below to check them out.
I was looking for some more free programs and website to show my students and their parents and I ran into something that I hadn't seen before. I found a version of Open Office (look back a few posts) that is tailored for kids aged 7-12. Make-a-Flake For those of you that celebrate Thanksgiving I thought that I would post some turkey and Thanksgiving activities to get you through the week. Have a great break!
Thanksgiving Games & Activities Have you ever needed to use Word, Excel, or Powerpoint but you don't have those programs on you computer? Just download Open Office! Open Office is free and works just like these programs. Click on the link to take you to the Open Office website.
Open Office We are working on formatting documents in Word for the next couple of weeks.
Here in South Lake we have updated the computer lab in two of our elementary schools. We have installed three new educational programs that we will be using to teach the children. The great thing about these programs is that they are absolutely free! I thought that it would be good to share these with you so if you wanted to use these programs you could.
They are: Tux Paint Tux Typing and, Tux of Math Command Each of the program names is a link that will take you to the website of each respective program. I hope that you and your child enjoy these programs. |
